"During the painting process I immerse myself in realizing and translating the details of my chosen subject. If the end result enables the viewer to discover what they might otherwise have passed by, then my painting is a success."

Alberta artist Kristin Vignal's primary focus is representational art with her preferred subjects including still-life, figures and animals.  Kristin has been influenced artistically by her father and her grandfather, Charles Thorson, both of whom were gifted artists with a great affection for the animal world.  That same affection is evident in her animal studies and portraits. She has spent the past decade and a half concentrating on the medium of soft pastels, but with the exception of some work with pastel pencils, Kristin is now focused on the acrylic medium.

Kristin has been an Exhibiting Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists since 2013.  She was instrumental in the formation of the FCA Central Interior Chapter in British Columbia, and is currently a member of the Calgary Chapter of the FCA.  In 2018 she was awarded Pastel Artists Canada Master Pastellist Signature designation.  Kristin is also currently a member of the Calgary Artists' Society.
